Evangelist
Daniel Lamar James is a true and dedicated Man of God. Born November
12, 1970 in Fort Myers, FL, music has never been far from his heart.
Singing since the tender age of three, Daniel envisioned sharing
his gift with thousands. He accepted his calling to Evangelism at
15 and began to preach the Word of God. Fervently aspiring to merge
his gift of song and message, he came to serve as Minister of Music
at the Jerusalem Church of God in Christ in his hometown. Later,
he founded I.O.L. Ministries, Inc., (Issues Of
Life Ministries, Inc.) an organization that continues to
offer specialty services ranging from the production and performance
of gospel and inspirational music, to counseling and motivational
speaking for religious and civic organizations. Although he initially
intended professional singing to be just an extracurricular activity,
Daniel soon realized that his destiny was to inspire the masses,
and began marching to the beat of his own drummer.
In 1994,
Daniel was appointed the thirteenth director of the world-renowned
Florida A&M University Gospel Choir by the choir’sfounder, the
late Prince J. D. Olds. He faithfully accepted the position and
served in this capacity for five consecutive years. During his tenure,
he toured extensively throughout the contiguous United States as
well as Hawaii. He was also afforded the pleasure of sharing the
stage with such Gospel Artists as the Legendary Clark Sisters, Donald
Lawrence, Men of Standard, and Dorothy Norwood. Evangelist James
also appeared on the choir’s first nationally acclaimed CD release,
Twinkie Clark-Terrell presents the Florida A&M University
Gospel Choir. He wrote and arranged He’s Done Great Things
for Me and also performed Lord, I’ll Go, a duet with
former choir director L. Spencer Smith.
A burgeoning
solo career ahead of him, Simply Daniel teamed with his dynamic
background singers, "his Revelation Chorale" in 1998.
On May 31, the group made its debut at the very exclusive House
of Blues (HOB) "Sunday Gospel Brunch," in Orlando, FL.
They have also appeared at both the Myrtle Beach, SC and the Chicago,
IL locations. Simply Daniel has also made a guest appearance at
the Las Vegas HOB. In the past three years, the group has made tremendous
leaps and bounds in the gospel music industry. They are now a regular
attraction at the HOB "Sunday Gospel Brunch," where they
have a reputation for high-energy performances that mix jazz, show
tunes, hip-hop, ballads, and down home traditional music into a
unique blend of gospel. Upon referral by the special events department
of the House of Blues, Daniel wrote and recorded Miracle Victory,
theme song for the WNBA’s Orlando Miracle. The group later performed
the song at the nationally televised unveiling of the team and at
the season’s opening game.
In December
1999, Daniel had the distinct pleasure of touring Switzerland with
Savoy Recording Artist Troy Sneed after making an appearance on
Sneed’s first album, Call Jesus. He also performed True
Colors for the Rent Way, Inc. national conference held at the
Walt Disney World Resort Dolphin Hotel in Orlando, FL. Over two
thousand representatives were in attendance. Simply Daniel and his
Revelation Chorale also opened for the nationally acclaimed gospel
play Trouble Don’t Last Always and assisted the cast with
background vocals.
The overall
goal of Evangelist James is to make the Gospel and its music universal,
reaching the young and old, regardless of race, creed, or religion;
he wants to convey THE ANSWER, NOT THE ALTERNATIVE. This
is only possible through the love and message of Jesus Christ that
Evangelist Daniel James spreads. There is nothing complex or mysterious
about this man; he is SIMPLY DANIEL.
